4:1 | 众子啊,要听父亲的教训,留心得知聪明。 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. |

4:2 | 因我所给你们的,是好教训。不可离弃我的法则(或作“指教”)。 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. |

4:3 | 我在父亲面前为孝子,在母亲眼中为独一的娇儿。 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. |

4:4 | 父亲教训我说,你心要存记我的言语,遵守我的命令,便得存活。 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. |

4:5 | 要得智慧,要得聪明。不可忘记,也不可偏离我口中的言语。 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. |

4:6 | 不可离弃智慧,智慧就护卫你。要爱她,她就保守你。 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. |

4:7 | 智慧为首,所以要得智慧。在你一切所得之内,必得聪明(或作“用你一切所得的去换聪明”)。 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. |

4:8 | 高举智慧,她就使你高升;怀抱智慧,她就使你尊荣。 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. |

4:9 | 她必将华冠加在你头上,把荣冕交给你。 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. |

4:10 | 我儿,你要听受我的言语,就必延年益寿。 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. |

4:11 | 我已指教你走智慧的道,引导你行正直的路。 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. |

4:12 | 你行走,脚步必不至狭窄。你奔跑,也不至跌倒。 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. |

4:13 | 要持定训诲,不可放松。必当谨守,因为她是你的生命。 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. |

4:14 | 不可行恶人的路。不可走坏人的道。 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. |
|
4:15 | 要躲避,不可经过。要转身而去。 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. |

4:16 | 这等人若不行恶,不得睡觉;不使人跌倒,睡卧不安。 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. |

4:17 | 因为他们以奸恶吃饼,以强暴喝酒。 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. |

4:18 | 但义人的路,好像黎明的光,越照越明,直到日午。 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. |

4:19 | 恶人的道好像幽暗。自己不知因什么跌倒。 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. |

4:20 | 我儿,要留心听我的言词,侧耳听我的话语。 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. |

4:21 | 都不可离你的眼目。要存记在你心中。 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. |

4:22 | 因为得着它的,就得了生命,又得了医全体的良药。 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. |

4:23 | 你要保守你心,胜过保守一切(或作“你要切切保守你心”),因为一生的果效,是由心发出。 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. |

4:24 | 你要除掉邪僻的口,弃绝乖谬的嘴。 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. |

4:25 | 你的眼目,要向前正看,你的眼睛(原文作“皮”)当向前直观。 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. |

4:26 | 要修平你脚下的路,坚定你一切的道。 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. |

4:27 | 不可偏向左右。要使你的脚离开邪恶。 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. |
