26:1 | 夏天落雪,收割时下雨,都不相宜。愚昧人得尊荣,也是如此。 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool. |

26:2 | 麻雀往来,燕子翻飞,这样,无故的咒诅,也必不临到。 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. |

26:3 | 鞭子是为打马。辔头是为勒驴。刑杖是为打愚昧人的背。 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back. |

26:4 | 不要照愚昧人的愚妄话回答他,恐怕你与他一样。 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. |

26:5 | 要照愚昧人的愚妄话回答他,免得他自以为有智慧。 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. |

26:6 | 藉愚昧人手寄信的,是砍断自己的脚,自受损害(“自受”原作“喝”)。 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. |

26:7 | 瘸子的脚,空存无用。箴言在愚昧人的口中,也是如此。 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. |

26:8 | 将尊荣给愚昧人的,好像人把石子包在机弦里。 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. |

26:9 | 箴言在愚昧人的口中,好像荆棘刺入醉汉的手。 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools. |

26:10 | 雇愚昧人的,与雇过路人的,就像射伤众人的弓箭手。 The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors. |

26:11 | 愚昧人行愚妄事,行了又行,就如狗转过来吃他所吐的。 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. |

26:12 | 你见自以为有智慧的人吗?愚昧人比他更有指望。 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him. |

26:13 | 懒惰人说,道上有猛狮,街上有壮狮。 The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. |

26:14 | 门在枢纽转动,懒惰人在床上也是如此。 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. |

26:15 | 懒惰人放手在盘子里,就是向口撤回,也以为劳乏。 The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. |
|
26:16 | 懒惰人看自己,比七个善于应对的人更有智慧。 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason. |

26:17 | 过路被事激动,管理不干己的争竞,好像人揪住狗耳。 He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears. |

26:18 | 人欺凌邻舍,却说:我岂不是戏耍吗?他就像疯狂的人,抛掷火把、利箭与杀人的兵器(“杀人的兵器”原文作“死亡”)。 As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, |

26:19 | * So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport? |

26:20 | 火缺了柴,就必熄灭。无人传舌,争竞便止息。 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. |

26:21 | 好争竞的人煽惑争端,就如余火加炭,火上加柴一样。 As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife. |

26:22 | 传舌人的言语,如同美食,深入人的心腹。 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. |

26:23 | 火热的嘴,奸恶的心,好像银渣包的瓦器。 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross. |

26:24 | 怨恨人的用嘴粉饰,心里却藏着诡诈。 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; |

26:25 | 他用甜言蜜语,你不可信他,因为他心中有七样可憎恶的。 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. |

26:26 | 他虽用诡诈遮掩自己的怨恨,他的邪恶必在会中显露。 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation. |

26:27 | 挖陷坑的,自己必掉在其中。滚石头的,石头必反滚在他身上。 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him. |

26:28 | 虚谎的舌,恨他所压伤的人。谄媚的口,败坏人的事。 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin. |
